Feminine and slightly vintage, her successive collections are different but they share a capacity to exalt our femininity. Her boutique is located next door to her workshop where her dressmakers are able to customize any outfit, to create one for you or simply to alter a piece of clothing from the shop.

Expats VS Migrants

Il y a un sujet assez sensible dans la communauté des étrangers vivant en Afrique. Il y a 20 ans, la question ne suscitait pas vraiment de débat. Un européen ou un américain qui vivait en Afrique était considéré et appelé «  expatrié ». Un expatrié c’est, littéralement, quelqu’un qui vit hors de sa patrie. On pourrait donc se dire que c’est une forme d’émigration comme une autre. Cela dit, dans le langage courant ce terme n’est généralement utilisé que pour les occidentaux vivant en Afrique ou en Asie.

Calafia Café in Gisenyi

There is since one or two years now, a very nice place in Gisenyi. It is clearly a must-go when you are in town. Calafia café is a little gem . The atmosphere , the decoration, the coffee, the pastries, everything here is always perfect and delicious. The waiters are lovely. The cafe is located near Grande Barrière. It is a old house which has been « pimped » . The feeling when you arrive is that you are now in a little oasis.

The Beach house in Gisenyi ( Airbnb )

I love Airbnb. When we arrived in 2014, this service was almost unavailable. Since then , hopefully for me, the offer has increased. What I love with Airbnb is to have the comfort of a home and this feeling that you live there… Even if it is for 3 days only. With kids it is really great, you can follow their rythm, they have more place to play and can make more noise. With friends also ( for the exactly same reasons 🙂 ).
