Since a few years, hotels have been blooming in Kigali. Big, small or boutique hotels, the choice is yours. My preference will always go to small structures like boutique hotels. I find the service in this kind of structure more attentive, I also appreciate the level of calmness and privacy.
I recently tried Mythos hotel, one of the new additions in Kigali, a beautiful boutique hotel that combines all you need to feel home, far from home .
Located in the Kiyovu area, this charming hotel opened in August. Offering a swimming pool, a lovely restaurant with a breathtaking view of Kigali and very comfortable rooms and amenities.
The atmosphere is serene and you can easily forget that you are in the center of the city. Kimihurura is at a 5 minutes ride and the Kigali Convention center only at 7 minutes from there, and you are near the main roads leading to everywhere.
Mythos offers different kinds of rooms, I stayed in the executive one. Queen size bed, huge bathroom with shower and bath, and a living room. Some rooms offer communicative doors which is something not so common in Kigali, and that, as a mother, I really appreciate. Every detail has been very well considered, the colors of the walls, the furnitures and the little clin d’œil to Rwanda. it’s warm, cozy and welcoming.

A lovely terrasse will allow you to watch the Kigali’s hills and the beautiful swimming pool.
Because yes, can we call a boutique hotel, boutique hotel if there is no swimming pool? I don’t think so! In the backyard, the swimming pool is waiting for you. Not a huge one, but perfectly sized for an intimate hotel like Mythos. From the swimming pool, you can enjoy the view or just relax in your sun bed.
Last but not least, food ! As mentionned, Mythos hotel has its own restaurant, at the top of the building offering a spectacular view. It’s accessible all day, from breakfast to dinner (even for people not staying at the hotel) and it’s a really gorgeous place where you can watch some football games or just have a dinner. The menu is a continental one, offering various options like salads, burgers or Asian inspired sizzling dishes. I tried the Mongolian beef and the chicken salad and both were very good, well cooked for the beef that I asked medium and well presented. For breakfast, it is also à la carte (I always favour » à la carte » service instead of usual buffet services ). And I highly recommend the full English breakfast if like me, breakfast is your favorite meal of the day. The bacon was terrific, cooked perfectly .

I can’t finish without mentioning the staff. From the lobby manager to the waiters, or the housekeeper who came during my dinner to close the curtains and to put a bottle of water near the bed, everyone here is attentive in a perfect way. They all knew my name and always had something kind to say. They were also prompt to offer suggestions at the restaurant as I was scrolling down the menu’s options . This is one of the reasons why, boutique hotels are my favorite. And Mythos hotel is an excellent one. If you plan to stay in Kigali or for a staycation, you will not be disappointed in choosing them.
