Watamu is a small town that lies on the wonderful coast of Kenya, 2 hours drive from Mombasa and 1h from Malindi. There, it is a postcard landscape : you will find white sand beaches and coral formations in the different bays and beaches of the town. The area is considered as the third most beautiful beach of Africa and is a true gem, not yet ruined by massive tourism. And it is so much more than just a stunning beach! The northern province capital city is located two hours drive from Kigali. The journey up to Musanze passes through some stunning scenery and you will probably stop often to admire the famous thousands hills. And the beautiful postcard’s landscapes continue when you reach the city. On your right you can enjoy the view of the volcanoes. They are all there just outside of the city, seeming close to you. Sometimes they are hidden by the clouds, sometimes they are totally visible and it is just stunning.
Watamu is a lovely town at 2h30 drive from Mombasa. Here you will find one of the most beautiful beach in Africa . We spent 10 days there and it was a blast, we visited the Mangrove forest, the Gedi Ruins but also did snorkeling in this beautiful Indian Ocean. We choose to book through Airbnb, with our daughters it is really our favorite kind of stay. We can follow our own rhythm and during the stay we feel like really living in the city we visit !
Founded by parents, the concept behind Koko Club was to have a space where kids can play together safely, while parent can chill with good and healthy food. The place is awesome and with my family, it is clearly our new Sunday ‘s spot.
I heard about La Locanda few months ago, and it is always with nice comments. So when I decided to visit Musanze, I couldn’t choose an other place to stay. And the rumor were true, La Locanda is a hidden gem where you feel at home and privileged with the care you receive from Alberto, the owner. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and you will really feel good there.
Diani Beach is a major beach resort on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, it is located 30 kilometers south of Mombasa. It can be reached directly by plane, but from Kigali it was easy to have a flight to Mombasa , and then using the ferry and road to arrive at this small paradise .
This town was just a fishing place 40 years ago, but in the 70s when tourists wishing to come to Africa found Kenya the ideal place, as there was so much strife and problems in other African countries and it was the beginning of a touristic boom. Hotels were built along the coast road, which was at that time a dusty road. Since then Diani has continued to expend without losing its charm and simple atmosphere. You will not feel that you are in a very touristic area if you avoid the big hotels.
